CIDC - Z103.5

Back in May 31, 1985, Orangeville was devastated when it was struck by a tornado. It came in a surprised that the people felt that they did not receive sufficient warning. Due to this, the residents there requested from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission for a radio station that could serve the Orangeville - That was the birth of CIDC the free online radio channel.

The request was approved on September 10, 1986 and on May 1, 1987 almost a year after the tornado incident, the CIDC radio channel was launched on 103.5 FM with an ERP of 50,000 watts. Their music format was based on 70’s and 80’s music hits.

In 1995, CIDC online radio station was branded Hot 103.5 which later was called Hot 105.5 and it was playing purely dance music. To cope with the demands of the people, this free downloadable radio channel began adding more genres for their music. They added R&B and pop music in its playlist in February 1998. During this time, it was renamed Hits 105.5.

On January 2001, the station was renamed Z103-Dot-5 with a slogan of “The Hit Music Channel” but the CIDC call letters were retained. Currently, they have changed their slogan to “Today’s Hit Music”.
You can download this radio channel for free and it can be heard through online radio stations toolbar.

Despite on the rumours that CIDC has stopped playing dance music, it continue to be the leading free online radio station that provides the best dance music in North America. As a matter of fact 20 -30% of their playlist incorporates dance music.

Today CIDC radio internet channel is still one of the leading radio channels in Canada and is still growing. Expect that it will still continue to grow in the coming years.
